Certified Lifestyle Medicine Doctor and GP

Hi, I am Dr Stephani Bernard a GP in the NHS and a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner.

I learned through my own lifestyle changes that rather than managing a disease, you can change your lifestyle to promote health and wellbeing. I passionately believe in lifestyle medicine as the primary way to a healthier and happier life. Simple changes can pave the way to prevent or even reverse lifestyle-related illnesses and I am here to share the right science-based information with you and support you through your personal change.

I did my undergraduate medical degree at Cambridge University and then completed the clinical medicine part at Oxford University, graduating in 2011. After spending the junior doctor years at King’s College London and the first years as a GP trainee at Bart’s hospital in London, I moved to Nottingham where I completed GP training in 2017. During this time I also achieved a diploma in Child’s health and in Sexual and Reproductive health.

As a GP I diagnose and manage chronic illnesses daily and I have the knowledge and skills to ensure that underlying causes for your symptoms are not missed and to know when to direct my patients towards medical management by their own GP.

As a Certified Lifestyle Practitioner, I will focus on the cause of the disease and explore current behaviours that might be contributing or exacerbating your symptoms rather than just managing your symptoms on the surface. Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based intervention and it will transform your health and wellbeing to get you on a path to a healthier life. I firmly believe that many diseases are preventable and the suffering which comes with them.

A healthier you will also energise you to enjoy time with your family and friends and optimise your career and hobbies.

You have already made the first step by reading this — I am here to help you take the next couple of steps that bring you closer to a more fulfilling life.

Let’s feel better and live better

Over the years I realised that a lot of problems in our health could be traced back to behaviours and adaptations we may have learned going back as far as our childhood. Knowingly or unknowingly along the way we have made choices that could be impacting our wellbeing down to a molecular level. As many as 70% of all medical problems could be prevented and possibly even be reversed by making small and consistent changes. As many as 90% of the UK population are adding risks to their health and reducing their longevity in ways that could be prevented. With our help, you could gain the understanding required to make the changes required to achieve the health and wellbeing you deserve.
